A Place To Talk About Giants Baseball

Gold and Pure Gold

Posted in Uncategorized by Flavor on June 12, 2016

These have been fun games to watch. Regardless of the outcome. Although I’m probably just saying that because of last night’s outcome.

And big props to Snarkk and San Dawg and others for comments last night that transcended the game and the sport. Whenever I find myself reading posts more than once I know they are pure gold. Those are too long to put into the POTD but I am going to flood the POTD-best of a little later today when I have more time.

Peavy tonight! Fuck yeah, why not?

Belt is one big, strong dude. That was not an easy pitch to pull like that, breaking ball down. Anything he squares up has a chance to go.

I’m a Flyers fan so I hate the Penguins by default. I feel bad for the Sharks and their fans but they had a great season and that’s to be celebrated. I was born in SJ, so it will always be my home town. Winning a title of this magnitude would have been fantastic for a city that was mostly apricot orchards when I was a kid, but they have a good team and can still get one. They made it to the Finals, now it’s time to come back and win the Cup.

It’s amazing how hockey has succeeded in CA. In my day it was all but dead after the Seals folded. The Kings had some good teams and some great players, but were never a serious threat to win the Cup. Now there’s 3 successful franchises in the state. Very cool because it’s a great sport.

Interesting pitching match-ups on Monday. (I love the everyday-ness of the baseball season!) Cain (he returns) vs. the Brewers, and Greinke vs. the Dodgers.

  67. Carstie Clausen's avatar Carstie Clausen said, on June 12, 2016 at 9:30 pm

We can project a bit from tonight’s win and our now full 5 game lead over the LaBumbos. First, LA is not really very good right now and the possibility of SF winning the NLW now approaches probability. Second, though not usually as dramatic as he was tonight, Belt does appear to be coming into his own and provided he stays healthy, this could be his breakout year. Third, Peavy appears to have resurrected himself yet once again. Remember when he came to the Giants from Boston, he was having a miserable early season there and he turned it around totally once he returned to the tutelage of his original manager BB15. Fourth, Cain is due to pitch tomorrow night. If he does even remotely okay it appears that our pen will be massively strengthened with Suarez stepping into the vital longman role. Fifth, the return of Pagan, most likely on Wednesday vitiates the possibility of two still questionable rookies playing the outfield in a given game.

Add it all up and the all too frequent June Swoon grows less and less likely by the day. We should expect to take two of three from the Brewers. If so, the team has gone through a period of sparse offense, following an early experience of 40% negativity in the Rotation and questions everywhere in the pen. All things considered, the team appears to have corrected its list and nears return to an even keel. The looming fear of desperation now has a 5 game cushion and some renewed confidence on the part of the team.

Lebron James is a chicken shit pussy. Still won’t help his sorry ass.

He caused the ‘fight’ and the whined to the refs after the game about it.

According to Steven A Smith, he says he’s been hearing from a lot of players that they think Bron is a total wimp for pushing the whole thing after the game.

ThrNBA should be ashamed of themselves for making these kinds of decisions waasaay after the fact. If the NFL did this , there’d be 35 suspensions a week.

    • snarkk's avatar snarkk said, on June 12, 2016 at 9:53 pm

Totally agree. LeBron comes out of this looking like a total jerk. And, the NBA looks like it’s trying to engineer a LeBron resuscitation. I hope like hell the Dubs win tomorrow, and Oracle treats LeBron like the wuss he is the whole game. That post game presser where he said he has 3 kids etc., and was shocked by Draymond’s language calling him out was such a load of crap. Beware, the Dubs will not only have to beat the Cavs without Green, but with the refs likely calling a foul anytime a Dubs player even breathes in LeWuss’s direction…
